A Letter from Elise
Celebrating Ruben’s Graduation & 40th Birthday
Putting this celebration together for Ruben has been a labor of love—and much gratitude.
I’ve watched him pour himself into his studies, prayer life, and ministry for years. I’ve seen the early mornings, the late nights, the deep reading, and the even deeper wrestling. And now that he has officially graduated and is turning 40, I decided to:
Throw a PARTY!
You’re invited to join us for a special dinner celebration!
RSVP is required (Scroll Below). You’re welcome to bring a +1 if you'd like—just make sure they register with a separate email as well, yes even if it’s your spouse. (It helps me with the organizing).
This is an OPEN INVITE, but with limited seating, so make sure to RSVP Below right away!
Want to Bless Ruben?
Well, I did what any good wife would do:
I snooped. I poked through his browser tabs. I looked in his carts.
Then since I know he hates trinkets, I honestly just asked him:
“Alright, babe—if people wanted to bless you, what do you actually want?”
The result? A carefully curated gift registry with things he’ll actually use
tools, gear, and a few beautifully made items that say,
“Ruben, You’re worth honoring.”
Prefer to Give $$$
Launching this new season comes with real costs,
so if you'd prefer to give some MOOLAH, it would be most appreciated:
Use the Ministry Fund option on the registry, or
Give a tax-deductible gift
We seriously can’t wait to celebrate with you!
With so much love and excitement,
Elise Cervantes
Frequently asked questions

Ruben started his D.Min in 2018. He really thought he would complete it in 3 years, but due to COVID, a generation defining outpouring, and a global crisis, it has taken 7 years which required several extensions and approvals.
-
The research is titled “A Rude Awakening: Divine Disruption and Human Dynamics in times of Revival and Spiritual Renewal. He looked at the problems and challenges that emerge during times of revival. He investigated the experience of those who participated in the IHOPU Student Awakening of 2009/2010 and the 2023 Asbury Outpouring.
-
Like so much of revival hopefuls, Ruben always believed that revivals introduced only good things. But when a steward of an outpouring shared some of the challenges that he endured, he got curious. So he wanted to identify the consistent problems and challenges that emerge during times of revival and spiritual renewals. The goal is to identify these things to create a field guide for young revivalists to know what to expect, what to avoid, and how to brace themselves for the storms of revival. Perhaps we can steward this next generation of awakening well.

No, there are different doctorates. Ruben chose a Doctor of Ministry due to his practical ministry experience and the desire for practical outcomes of his research. So though Ruben is now Dr. Cervantes, his letters are D.Min and not Ph.D. However, given the descriptive nature of the dissertation, it was not a traditional D.Min with Interventions, instead it took on a hybrid form in that it involved more research in the literature rather than solely focused on researching human subjects. In this way, it leans toward a more philosophical approach to developing his framework.

Good Question, Ruben is positioning himself as a thought leader, author, podcaster, and contributor through content creation. His goal is to now begin to build an online community and a network of hubs, to help equip the church for a united effort of stewarding revival. He believes we have entered into a generation of awakening and wants to help equip believers to steward it well.
He wants to build four things:
A Global Network of vetted Spiritual Counselors equipped in Deliverance, prophecy, and healing prayer.
Creating simple Discipleship content for swift onboarding of new believers and providing tools to walk out their new life in God.
Normalizing Accountable Community - Small Groups, Wesleyan-style bands, and contexts for confession
Empowering Missional Creatives. Authors, songwriters, artists, tech workers, and media storytellers
